Soft Drinks and Mixers
Option A – The Guests Pay
Everyone pays for their drinks with cash or card, just as they would in their local pub.
We are committed to never charging more for a product than we would in our bar. A deposit
of £200 is required from the host and will be refunded when an agreed limit (depending on stock and staff levels)
Option B – The Host runs a tab
An agreed limit is paid in advance by the host. Once that limit is reached, the guests pay as in
Option A. We can implement a token system so there is a fair distribution of drinks among your guests. Alternatively, the host's contribution can be used to subsidise drink prices for guests throughout the event. No deposit is required if the agreed tab is more than £500.
Option C – The Host pays
As the host of what will no doubt be a party to remember, you may feel like treating your guests.
A deposit will be required and the balance of drinks drunk in excess of the deposit amount will be payable
at the end of the night.
The Classic Wedding - £15 per head
Pimm’s or prosecco for all guests on arrival
Half a bottle of wine per person during dinner
Prosecco for toasts
Jugs of water with ice and slices for all tables
Beer Without Fear £20 per head
Our infamous Cellar beer club, Beer Without Fear, takes to the road.
Six of the finest beers sourced from all over the world with explanations and beer history from our
very own ale aficionado, Andrew “Aki” Atkinson.
Different options and combinations can be discussed
As we’re sure you can imagine, a great deal of work goes into making your bar experience run
smoothly. We will organise stock ordering, staffing, purchasing, glass hire, license applications
and the preparation and dismantling of the bar. We hope you will understand therefore, that we
generally provide a full bar service as the sole provider of drinks on the day.
The Cellar has one of the most extensive ranges of beers in the whole country with 22 keg taps,
6 real ale hand pumps, and over 100 bottles from all over the world in stock. We work with a great
independent wine supplier so our wines and fizz are not only of the very best quality, offering
familiar favourites such as New Zealand Sauvignon or Australian Shiraz, but they are also far
removed from your bog-standard: you won’t find them in the supermarkets or the pub round the corner.
Our spirit selection is extensive and ranges from your classic to the more unusual and sublime.
We have some of the best bands around playing from 10pm every weekend and with the bar open till 2:30,
you’re sure to have a brilliant night. Our downstairs basement bar is free to hire and is perfect for a party
or a function. With your own attentive, private bar staff and a room you can decorate as much or as little
as you want for free, it’s a bit of a no brainer really.

Saturday 7 May 2016 – 150th Birthday Party
How better to celebrate one 30th birthday and two 60ths than with a piss up in a brewery? The joint 150th bash was a gathering of family and friends at the Spitting Feathers Farm. Proud cockerels strutted about, farm dogs greeted you, the children played amongst the horses, and a jolly time was had by all perched on hay bales. Quite the wholesome image but Mr Squiffy ensured things didn’t stay that way. Setting aside the three birthday boys, Mr Squiffy truly was the man of the moment, serving up a full bar including real ale and plenty of fizz. Later on, as the heavens opened and guests took shelter in the spectacular barn, singer Ben Stafford brought the house down with the ultimate high-octane mash up of medleys. Guests are still talking about the party in its unusual setting and, of course, the vintage ice cream van that serves up something even more joyful than a 99.
Friday 20 May 2016 – WedFest at Number 68, Watergate Street
Mr Squiffy was pretty stoked to be invited to the inaugural WedFest at Number 68 Watergate Street, organized by Honeybomb Vintage Wedding Boutique and Vain Atelier, Chester. WedFest was established for those who want their wedding to be a bit different to everyone else’s. A celebration of all things cool and independent, WedFest must surely be the most generous, bedazzling wedding event that ever has been. Mr Squiffy was parked up outside, charming the masses, and catching the eye of 80s comedian Stan Boardman - ‘Beers on wheels! Beers on wheels!’ he gleefully chuckled as he trundled by. Inside, the Mr Squiffy stand was serving up positively pudding-like Jammie Dodger shots and love-inspired pick n’ mix to all. Our fellow suppliers were equally lavish with competitions galore, music playing on every floor and a party atmosphere. The lovely bride-to-be, Kirsty Louise Edwards, won the Squiffy competition and is now the proud owner of a bottle of Bathtub Gin and case of Fever-Tree tonic. Here’s to the next WedFest. If in the meantime, you’d like to speak to us about how Mr Squiffy can be a part of your big day, please get in touch.
Saturday 29 May 2016 – The Wedding of Scott & Molly Rumsey
Given that Scott and Molly were lucky enough to get married in the dramatic surrounds of St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, their northern knees-up the following day had to be equally impressive. With a tee-pee pitched at The Success Factory, Burwardsley, taking in sweeping views of the hills, a completely gratuitous BBQ, and the ever enigmatic Roddai band bringing down the house, Mr Squiffy completed the party. Guests greeted each other and the sunshine with a Pimm’s pick-me-up, moving on to wine, fizz, real ale, lager, and, later, lots of Jägerbombs! Highlights for guests were the Strawberry Timmermans and the Marble Antipodean New Zealand Pale Ale.
Scott and Molly have a not-so guilty pleasure in all things Disney so the Mr Squiffy blackboard was customized accordingly, and we also produced a drinks menu using Molly’s favourite picture of the couple together. The Squiffy lights were set to disco-mode and he looked resplendent as night fell. We can truly recommend The Success Factory for anyone looking for a party venue in the country. The perfect site for the most memorable wedding. If you’d like more information about how Mr Squiffy can be a part of your big day, please get in touch.
